Crystallographic groups of Sol

We classify all the closed 3‐dimensional orbifolds with Sol‐geometry. These are aspherical orbifolds and so their fundamental groups determine the orbifolds completely. Thus we will classify all the crystallographic groups of Sol, together with all the Bieberbach groups, up to isomorphism.     

Ore Extensions of Quasi-Baer Rings

We first study the quasi-Baerness of R[x; σ, δ] over a quasi-Baer ring R when σ is an automorphism of R, obtaining an affirmative result. We next show that if R is a right principally quasi-Baer ring and σ is an automorphism of R with σ(e) = e for any left semicentral idempotent e ∈ R, then R[x; σ, δ] is right principally quasi-Baer. As a corollary, we have that R[x; δ] over a right principally quasi-Baer ring R is right principally quasi-Baer. Finally, we give conditions under which the quasi-Baernesses (right principal quasi-Baernesses) of R and R[x; σ, δ] are equivalent.     

On Minimal Extensions of Rings

Given two rings R ? S, S is said to be a minimal ring extension of R, if R is a maximal subring of S. In this article, we study minimal extensions of an arbitrary ring R, with particular focus on those possessing nonzero ideals that intersect R trivially. We will also classify the minimal ring extensions of prime rings, generalizing results of Dobbs, Dobbs &; Shapiro, and Ferrand &; Olivier, on commutative minimal extensions.     

B-Construction and C-Construction

B-construction is a way of obtaining a graded algebra from the triple consisting of an additive category, an object, and an autoequivalence, while C-construction is a way of obtaining an algebra (without unity) from the pair consisting of an additive category and a set of objects. In this article, we study and compare three important classes of algebras in noncommutative algebraic geometry and representation theory of finite dimensional algebras, namely, quantum polynomial algebras, preprojetive algebras and trivial extensions, via these constructions.     

Linear Groups Over Integral Extensions of Semilocal Commutative Rings

Let K be an associative and commutative ring with 1, k a subring of K such that 1 ∈ k, K is an integral finitely generated extension of k, the element 2 invertible in k, and k is semilocal. The paper studies subgroups of the general linear group GL _n (K) with n ≥ 2 containing the special linear group SL _n (k).

On the Structure of ∞-Harmonic Maps

Let H ∈ C ²(? ^N×n ), H ≥ 0. The PDE system arises as the Euler-Lagrange PDE of vectorial variational problems for the functional E _∞(u, Ω) = ‖H(Du)‖ _{L ^∞(Ω)} defined on maps u: Ω ? ? ⁿ  → ? ^N . (1) first appeared in the author's recent work. The scalar case though has a long history initiated by Aronsson. Herein we study the solutions of (1) with emphasis on the case of n = 2 ≤ N with H the Euclidean norm on ? ^N×n , which we call the “∞-Laplacian”. By establishing a rigidity theorem for rank-one maps of independent interest, we analyse a phenomenon of separation of the solutions to phases with qualitatively different behaviour. As a corollary, we extend to N ≥ 2 the Aronsson-Evans-Yu theorem regarding non existence of zeros of |Du| and prove a maximum principle. We further characterise all H for which (1) is elliptic and also study the initial value problem for the ODE system arising for n = 1 but with H(·, u, u′) depending on all the arguments.
